Location: Minnesota | I finally got around to restoring the bumper jack to my car... yes everything else is done...
but when I brought it out of the shed I realized none of my jack pieces went together.
The base does not fit the upright, the bumper hook does not fit the jack mechanism, so it’s all kind of a mess.
I don’t intend on using it but it would be great to have the correct one in the trunk.
I have the correct hold down but it’s so rusty it’s probably only good as a pattern.
Anyone have a good bumper jack or even a good picture of one so I know what I am looking for?
Thanks in advance, Mark |

Location: Lower Mainland BC | Any of this look familar? There should be a squarish metal base for the metal upright post, the square metal post with ratcheting grooves, the ratcheting mechanism, the hook that fits in the racheting mechanism (and grabs the bottom of the bumper) and a tire iron/jack handle, as sort of shown in these 56 Dodge jacking instructions:

Location: Minnesota | Thanks for the reply! Here is a picture of what have. The bumper hook does not fit the front or rear of a '57 DeSoto, The upright is bigger than the hole in the stand. Perhaps some parts are right (either the upright or base but just not sure... Yes I did look at my trunk lid jacking instructions but the illustration didn't offer much help in discerning exactly what it should be.

Location: Lower Mainland BC | Not saying what you have is 100% correct but it looks like it might potentially work.

| This is the jack that both of my '57 Desotos have.

Location: Minnesota | The hook is too wide for the notches in the bumper, and if used it would push in the lower front grill. The upright does not fit into the jack base at all... could it be made to work perhaps, but it wouldn't be right. and like I said I will never use it... as it would likely scratch the bumper anyway. I have a scissors jack for emergency tire replacement. I guess the idea here is to restore the car to original with the correct jack or pieces. |

Location: Minnesota | Thanks NMDesoto! I think that confirms none of the parts I have are correct. It appears the upright is a triangular shaped tube where the one I have is solid. The hook is definitely different and the base is different too. So I guess I am looking for a complete jack. Thanks again, Mark |
