Was Overdrive ever offered on the Borg Warner Option Code 281 Manual Racing Transmission? If so I'm guessing it used an R-11 configuration for heavy duty use?

Not sure what year you are referring to. If you mean the B/W T-85 trans. used in 1960 and also in 62-63, Chrysler never offered O/D with this. But, Ford used this trans. with O/D for many years. Of course it would be built to their specs. as to input shaft, bolt pattern, etc. I have never confirmed this but I suspect the Dodges and Plymouth with the T-85 may have used the same bolt pattern case as the Fords but with a different input shaft.

A quick scan of the '61 factory parts catalog shows no OD transmissions in any model.

The 281 code three-speed manual for the 1961 Chrysler and 300G was a new-for-1961 Chrysler-made Heavy Duty transmission, not Borg Warner and not with overdrive. Where did you see it called a Racing transmission? Yes it was in the beach cars, but the same trans was available in a Newport.
