| Hello -
This coming winter, I'm planning to pull the 277 out of our 56 Belvedere for a rebuild and am wondering if the full rotating assembly for a later 318 will fit. Obviously, we're looking for a little more meat
Anyone do this, or know if it will bolt in? I haven't checked piston size, but boring would be no problem if this works well. Thanks. |

Location: So. Cal | I seriously doubt you could do a 160 mil overbore on your motor. If you want a 318 size, why not just rebuild a 318 motor and run that? But if you want to keep your original motor, you could put the larger stroke 318 crank into it and bore the motor out 60 mils to the '56 Fury size and turn it into a 303. Then use stock '56 Fury pistons in it. Another option is to put a newer 4" stroke crank with custom pistons. That would bring your motor up to a 360 size, but you would have to run a newer transmission with it as the crank flanges are different from the old spec.

| Thanks, I wasn't sure what size overbore I'd need. Sounds like pulling the stock 277 and putting it to the side and locating a 318 and trans is a better option. I'd considered that already - now it's confirmed. Appreciate all the knowledge you share, thanks. |
