Location: San Antonio TX | Wow. This thing is incredible looking. Looks like a car that's maybe just 10 years old. Says it was bought from a widow in 1980 with only 19k miles on it. Was stored inside it's entire life. Power seats. Great interior and exterior colors. Good luck finding something like this again. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333227881253 |

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Nice car. Look closely and you'll notice a lot of soiling on the interior, carpets etc. It would take maybe half a day of TLC to clean it up, steam clean the carpets, and make it look a whole lot nicer. I'm a bit OCD on those kinds of details myself, so I notice them. |

| it looks very nice but it it really original paint?
the white inserts in the front should be painted metal but to me it looks like as if there would be no inserts?
Maybe I am wrong.

Maybe I am wrong. Carsten I always thought the sweep was just painted onto the car with trim hiding the edges, but I'm not sure. I know spring specials used an insert though. |

Location: So. Cal | He's referring to the front fenders. There is an insert on the front fenders only that is painted the sweep color, to avoid having to paint the fenders 2 different colors.

Location: DFW, TX | Incredible. I am certain that '57 Desotos used a painted insert, but not sure about the '58s. And I don't see an angle that definitively shows it without a painted insert. Fine automobile! |

I agree with Nathan. I know the 56 Dodges had an insert ("cap") for the saddle colour at the upper rear of the fender - so the fender shop could paint up fenders in the lower colour(s) and not have to worry about the saddle paint. When the car came down the line, somebody picked the two fenders and two inserts/caps to match the rest of the car's colour scheme. Clever. Both time and cost savings.
Here are two photos of the fender cap used on a 56 Dodge (photos courtesy of DepsilonD)

Location: Lubbock, TX | I was figuring $34k+ but perhaps the concerns over the paint gave buyers a pause? Also there were some cleanliness issues that could've been deal breakers for picky preservationists. I'm out of room, otherwise this car looked right up my alley.
