IMHO, this is where 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' may be your best bet. If it's not leaking, leave it alone. I had trouble keeping it from leaking once removed.

Thanks for the info. Good idea if is not broke don't fix it .
I just wanted to drain it to see if any thing in it.
I had the tank cleaned years ago and no gas was put
in it. I want to put gas in it now so I thought now is the time
to check it out before gas goes in
