I'm assuming that there is a rubber ring or "O" ring between the small pipe and the tank. Who sells the seal?

Location: Lower Mainland BC | I might be wrong, but I would have thought that a 56 Plymouth (even a Fury) would have fuel tank inlets and outlets similar to, if not identical to, those of a 56 Dodge. If that is the case, there are no O-rings on either the inlet or the outlet. The inlet is based on two different size hoses, a big one for the inlet proper and a smaller one for the overflow/vent line. Both are friction fit over beaded pipes with the added security of mechanical clamps. The outlet is a flared fitting/compression nut. No O-ring but sealing paste would be wise.

Location: Falcon, CO | The Fury has the inlet on the right side of the quarter down to the tank. I'll clean off the rubber hose, clamps, and lower pipe Thursday; and get a better look as to what's happening. |

From an old fuel tank thread:

All 55-56 Dodge/Plymouth/Plodge Coupe and Sedan tanks are the same (17 gallon tank PT No. 1557 468, 20 gallon tank Pt. No. 1632 823). In addition, all 55-56 Dodge/Plymouth/Plodge Station Wagon Tanks are the same (17 gallon tank PT No. 1632 788). BUT, but the wagon tanks are different from the Sedan/Coupe tanks.
I agree with those PNs (see below)
Your tank should look something like this (from an old 2015 thread):
or even better from this eBay advert:

Location: Falcon, CO | I pulled the original tank overflow rubber hose. It's the problem.

Yup that would do it. I went with a standard fuel compatible bulk (on a roll) hose from a Friendly Local Auto Parts (FLAPs) store.
