Anyone use Kanter's disc conversion kit before? In there catalog they list a complete kit and a wheel kit, but on their website the wheel kit is the only one that comes up. I'm going to send them an email and see what's going on with that. I'm working on a 1957 DeSoto by the way.

Oh no!! DON'T DO IT. If you change your front brakes so something that is more modern, reliable and safer, the purists here will hound and deride you for creating a car that is a complete "fraud" making your 57 Desoto completely worthless.

Naturally, I would be willing to save you from all that by taking it off your hands and storing it in sealed bubble-bag in an air conditioned garage for perpetuity. The purists will applaud

I would just go with Scarebird, you can source much better quality products. Scare bird kits now clear 14 inch wheels, they use Cordoba rotors with cadillac calipers.

the 85 Caddy calipers are extremely low profile. i see how it clears the 14 inch now. Wilwood is looking to make a kit but they dont have the calipers yet so no cool dual pistons yet.

Change out your inadequate front drums for affordable disc with our US-made CNC laser-cut brackets. These cold-rolled steel adapters bolt straight on to your drum spindles- no machining is necessary to the spindle, nor any realignment. We use 1977 Cordoba rotors (11-3/4", same wheel bolt pattern and pilot size) and 1985-89 Cadillac DeVille FWD front calipers. This kit will clear your OEM 14" rims.

I got nice powdercoater calipers also

I think it runs 400$ total

calipers are 31$

Does the Scarebird bracket fit DeSoto? Scarebird kit just listed Plymouth and Dodge wasn't sure if it would fit DeSoto also.

Avoid Kanter. Bad experiences all around.

AAJ is another good solution. And, yes, they will have a kit for 57 Desoto. Likely cheaper than Kanter as well.

Yes, the Scarebird kit fits Chrysler and DeSoto too. They just haven't figured that out yet. I have used their Plymouth kit on 6 of my Chryslers & DeSotos.

That is funny (in a sad pathetic way). I specifically asked them whether they had anything for a 56 Chrysler and they said no. BUT yet, the photo of the 4 bolt plate looks suspiciously like it would work

Their photo:

I sent them an email and he said as long as my spindle looks like the one in the picture it will work.

Dave, I was referring to '57-'61. I know that '56 is a little different. It may not work on your car, but I'm not positive. It will likely require subtle changes that may not be easy to accomplish.
