Its funny sometimes what your grand father decide to save a couple of dollars on when rebuilding a motor. When my dad and my grandfather put the Hemi together, my grandfather decided to re-use the original pushrods. Well now that we are trying to get this back on the road, we have a lifter tick. So I need new pushrods. I don't really like adjustable pushrods, I have one adjustable pushrod for checking lengths, then was going to order a set of correct length pushrods. I don't know what the machine shop did with the block so that is why I want to check the lengths. How much pre-load did the factory have for the hydraulic lifters on the early Hemi?

With hyd lifters the OEM push rods should be OK unless there's noticeable wear. Could be just a lifter needs replacing. The early 361-413 (812 for most makers) work fine. Contact "wayfarer" here on the Board about push rod availability, he's QEC.
