I'm not generally much of a fan of attorneys, but I have a lot of respect for a neighbor of mine who is one. Her driveway is across the street from the front of my house, and I usually try not to park there. One day I had to park my Firedome sedan there because one of my other vehicles was in my own driveway. The attorney was backing down her driveway in her $$$ Mercedes, and taking an incredible effort to be sure to avoid damaging both our cars. I saw her, and said "I really appreciate you taking so much care not to hit the DeSoto, but you know, your car is worth a whole lot more than mine." She responded "Yes, but mine is replaceable!" That was an off-the-cuff response that I didn't expect, and is one of the comments about my car that I'll never forget! Just thought I'd share that nice response.

I was waiting for you to tell us she asked if you were the original owner !

So far, in 5 years of ownership, I have been asked that 4 times, regarding
my truck.

Often people ask what year it is, and when I ask them to guess, many have
offered years all the way up to 1965 !!! One even said 1890 ! One time I
decided to play along and told the not-very-historically hip woman that this
truck was very special, because it was owned by Abraham Lincoln. She was
duly impressed. I almost felt bad for feeding her such a line of BS, but wow .....

In their minds, that Model T could just as reasonably have been driven by Fred Flintstone, Napoleon or MLK, or maybe it's something you made yourself.

Honest to God, I wish I was kidding...

Ed, that is a wonderful compliment! It's always nice when someone at least has a grasp that these cars are special, enjoyable, and worthwhile.

That indeed was a very nice thing to say. She sounds like she has consideration for others, a rare quality in attorneys these days. You have a gem there.
