I was recently given a set of Van’s Auto tail light chevrons (a very generous gift indeed - thank you Bill)
My question is how to install them - I contacted Van’s and they have no recommendation for an adhesive
I know members here have installed them - what did you use?
I would hate to damage the chevrons or the lenses

Location: Idaho - where men are men and spuds are spuds | Well, I've never done it, Gregg, but I was going to use clear E6000. I'd think you'd have to be careful not to have excess oozing out. I still can't believe someone hasn't jumped on your car for your new price????? Best of luck.  |

Location: central Illinois | I haven't installed my new chevrons on my old set of lenses. But my old parts guy, that has since passed away, recommended this 3M adhesive.

Location: DFW, TX | I tried the new transparent Gorilla Glue to repair a broken piece of a tail light lens. I am very impressed with its transparency and holding ability, and I would recommend it. Be sure the joint has a small amount of water before applying the glue.

Location: So. Cal | That Gorilla glue looks like it is silicone based. That's good because silicone epoxies aren't as affected by water, heat and sunlight as much as other types of glues and they are softer so they won't crack as easily with thermal expansion. You shouldn't apply water to it though. It will cure with the humidity in the air. That seems like a good choice for this application. I've used a professional silicone based epoxy Threebond 1530C that looks to be similar. It's made to cure faster, but otherwise very similar. |
