Is that a power plant in the background of the field shots ?
Doc: As it happens, I have been to Vasteras on work while part of a team of environmental engineers trying to get a secondary wastewater treatment plant organized for the City of Victoria BC (and surrounding area). Vasteras has a power plant operated by Mälarenergi AB that burns the local solid waste (garbage) as well as willow coppice* (harvested and chipping willow) that is grown (and regrown) fertilized with a mixture of anaerobically co-digested and dewatered sewage sludge and source-separated house-hold organics. (The methane gas from this anaerobic digestion is used to power the buses in the area). A really interesting system. I tried to sell the City of Victoria on this system but failed.
*Coppice: The coppice system is an even-aged silvicultural system for which the main regeneration method is vegetative sprouting of either suckers (from the existing root systems of cut trees) or shoots (from cut stumps). This system is limited to hardwood species management.
