I have an old remote water separator filter set up from my old boat. I haven't looked at it in years but I am thinking of adding a remote trans. filter.
I know is sitting on a shelf somewhere and as I recall and it looks just like a remote oil filter. Maybe it has a pressure or check valve or something inside?

Anyway, whether I can use it or buy one, what filter is used? Can I just use a regular oil filter?

I have installed several remote inline ATF filters and use the Mopar/Ford PH8 style spin-on oil filter. For a canister type I would use the recommended oil filter element. ATF is just oil.

I used the commonly available remote spin ons that you can order from Summit & Jegs. Wix or Motorcraft filters. They list spin on filters for trannys, but the filters have the GM threads instead of the Ford/Mopar ones the base uses.
