I am chasing the engine mounts for my Desoto and found some but it is the rubber only and not the casing how does that work?

You need the metal cylinders they go in.

Can they be pressed into the casing?

Originally they just float in the 'cans', they tend to get stuck when the rubber fails from age and heat. The angle of them makes it possible to float a little bit and the engine not fly off. Install the new rubber cylinders you have when you get the engine metal mounts.
