Hello,

I need some definitive advice please.
I know building a 383 is as basic as it gets and I shouldn't be having an issue between the Oil Pan AND the Oil Pickup; but, alas, I am.

OIL PAN:
I need to know what specific Pan will be correct for a 1962 300 Sport; so it clears the center link and such.
I do not have the original pan
I did buy one from rock auto & am now doubting it is correct. (PIONEER 501172)
It has a 5" depth from the pan rail to the sump bottom; yet I suspect it may be a quarter inch too shallow?

OIL PICK UP SCREEN:
Melling 63S2 is, I believe, correct.

Thank you for any help.

The pan doesn't have to be as deep as other engines on the B and RB engines because of the extended skirt of the block. Pretty sure you need a pan with a center sump like is used from 58-61.

I will try to measure one of my pans.

The part number for the original '62 pan is 2268459 and the strainer is 1859947. The replacement pan is listed for a wider range of applications so the depth might be different than original.
