Going through some stuff and I noticed something interesting. I have several sets of the tail trim. One set is distinctly different in that it does not have the bevel on the edge like all the others. Hmmm... that's weird. I showed them to Don and he suggested that possibly they had been rechromed. That makes sense that they might have had to grind them down some to get out pitting. I noticed the ones with no bevel also don't have casting numbers on the inside like all the others. Still more support for the rechromed idea. However... they are all the same size and shape. Did someone really grind all four of these perfectly by hand?

The more I look at these the more I think they were ground and rechromed. Not having casting numbers on the inside certainly supports that. The thing is there is no unevenness or lack of symmetry. They are exactly matched and consistent. It's almost like they dipped them in acid and melted away a 32nd of an inch and then rechromed them. Weird.
