Most of us don't think about the independent vendors that supply us until we need something for our cars. Unfortunately, this latest plague sweeping the country has left a LOT of the vendors that make our endeavors easy hurting for cash flow. The car shows where they sell their wares have all been cancelled and, in many cases, won't be rescheduled until 2021 or later. For many, the show circuit is a large portion of their annual income. None of us complain when we save on shipping and can see before we buy, either.
So what can we do?
Let's all check our projects list and place at least a small order with an independent vendor who has done us right at some point and with whom we've built a good relationship. Even if we're not going to be able to dig into that project in the next couple of months, we'll have the parts on hand when the opportunity arises. Spread the word to members of car clubs and ask them to do the same. Each of us knows a at least a few friends with classic cars and each needs some small part or accessory.
I know the vendors will appreciate it and you will thank yourself for doing it when they're able to remain in business when the all clear is sounded.
Thanks for reading! wishing everyone the best in these troubling times.
