Location: Ramona, CA | These are grab handles for a 1960 wagon. They fasten to the rear pillar and at the top of the roof. On my car, the top fastener is a Phillips head screw that goes into a nylon insert pressed into the roof. These other 1960 grab bars have a small carriage bolt with a tin nut inside the car. Both sets have the same casting number on them. The number on them doesn't match the parts book and the parts book shows a nut and bolt. It does list that there are 8 nuts required but the nut here is different than the ones that go on the three studs sticking through the pillar. I got an NOS set of handles for my wagon and they had the small screw hole like my originals.
They're supposed to be the same for all full-sized wagons from 1960-64. The set with the nuts came off a 1960 Plymouth Custom Suburban which interestingly didn't have a roof rack or third seat and appeared to be all original. All 1960 Chrysler wagons came standard with the grab bars. Optional on Dodge and Plymouth.
