Beautiful car. BUT why would you take the car to auction with an easily fixed blemish like this? It's letting the "side" down:

Great looking car. I would prefer the steering wheel to be its original black color.
Nathan: I wouldn't rule out that the steering wheel was factory-painted. My 55 Dodge Regent (Canadian Plodge) came with a painted steering wheel (light green over black rubber).
In 56, Plymouths could also be had with plastic steering wheels: 445 Black (plastic) and 446 White. If anything, the convertible would be better with the white plastic steering wheel since black would get as hot as Hades with the top down.
This convertible
A different car (but similar colour scheme):
Yet another 56 Plymouth but with a black plastic steering wheel:

Location: So. Cal | All of these are the plastic steering wheels that came only in black or white. The painted rubber wheels were the standard style, not like this one. White was used in '55, and '56 typically used black. Some early '56 models may have used white as well. |
