Location: So. Cal | We are starting a new type of car meet with 1961 or older vehicles and vintage camping on Route 66 in Victorville, CA on October 16-18. We will be cruising in period clothing on Saturday to support a number of original businesses on old Route 66 and enjoying each other's company at the campsite. Due to covid, you will need to make your own reservation and social distance, but it should be a lot of fun regardless.
You can also participate without camping by staying at the vintage New Corral Motel and we will meet up for the cruise & other activities. There is no car show associated with this rally, just a lot of vintage fun! Hope to see you there! Let me know if you have any questions, and please send me a message if you are planning to come.

Location: So. Cal | This event starts tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm uncertain how many people we will have there, but I know we have at least 6 households participating. Next time, we are looking to possibly rent a spot at Roy Roger's studio ranch on Route 66.

Location: So. Cal | The event was a sad failure and a great success at the same time. My limitation of '61 and older tow vehicles really limited participation and I am still hearing about the repercussions from it where I advertised. Lots of people wanted to come with their new jeeps & trucks and felt "randomly" excluded by me. We ended up just having 5 show up with vintage trailers, but only one other classic car at the camp, a '56 Thunderbird, & another couple joined us at the bottle tree ranch with a couple of classic GM cars. But we really had a lot of fun with the events we participated in together, despite not being able go bowling or to the museum because they were still closed. It was much more interactive than a typical car show or even a typical trailer camping event. Would love to do it again, but I need to meet with our trailer group first to advertise it better to those people with older cars & trailers. I couldn't do that this time because the darn covid crap killed our meet.

You may should rise up the limitation to approx '71 |

Location: Muskego, WI | I wouldn't look at it as a failure, but something to build on. Covid is re-surging right now, so that had to be a factor as well. I would also agree with Tom that you may want to be more inclusive in your vehicle year range. The definition of a classic or vintage car differs based on who you ask, to me I don't appreciate much after 1974 due to emissions standards really tightening in 1975 and later and car designs really fell off at that point (IMO). |

Location: So. Cal | Surprisingly, if I included the standard 1975 and older, we would have only had one other person (that I know of) come; a 1972 Ford truck & vintage trailer. I was hoping to create a more immersive vintage atmosphere rather than having an array of typical new cars with campers come. But it seems that most people aren't able to get their old cars up to towing capability. You can imagine that Thunderbird didn't tow that huge camper there. But I do know of quite a few in our other trailer group that do use old towing vehicles, so I just need to get the word out to them.
We were in an antique store in Oro Grande, chatting with an old timer there and found out that he is the grandson of the original owner of the Mohawk gas station. Turns out it was originally a Studebaker dealership that also serviced cars & served gasoline. The dealership shut down when Studebaker went out of business and became just the gas & service station. The large antique store was originally a John Deere dealership. Pretty cool to get the history of the place. |

Pre 61 (or pre 62?) was a good choice and its about quality, not quantity. Be glad that no air brushed 80s Chevy Van showed up, or a talking KIT Trans Am
Nice pictures! |

| I didn't catch this until today. I wouldn't have been able to in all likelihood, because my one and only pre-'61 finally arrived home last month in....challenging condition.
This would also have required a cross-country drive, and between interstate non-commerce, 45 of 50 governors racing to see who can be more panic-inducing and idiotic, and the resulting lack of work for me, I wouldn't have been able to do it.
That said, maybe next year, if I can get things moving.
