I all I have pulled down the vickers power steering pump and found the bushing has cracked in 2 places ( mopar parts catalouge passenger cars parts list 1955 - 58, part no 19-54-26 on pump 1826 158 ).
It is a brass or bronze type bushing that assists the shaft to stay central. Rest of pump is now rebuilt like new.

If you can't find a replacement, you can have a local machine shop make a new one for you. Carefully measure the shaft diameter very accurately and the diameter of where it goes in. If it is press fit into the housing, make it .001" bigger than what you measure. Give yourself .001 to .002" clearance on the shaft. A good machinist would measure it for you and build it accordingly.
