| Hi, this is my first post so I apologize if I did something incorrectly. I have a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker four door sedan. I just got the trim clips needed to reattach the stainless side trim, but I am wondering what I should do with the inserts for the rear quarters and doors. Are they just held in by the pressure of the upper and lower trim or should I adhere them somehow? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on what I could use to seal the trim clips? My first thought is silicone. Any help is greatly appreciated. | |

Location: So. Cal | The thin flat trim on these cars is just held in place by the moldings & clips on the sides of it. You don't need adhesive, and it isn't recommended because you would have a very difficult time removing it afterward without ruining it. But be sure the paint underneath the trim is in very good shape because dirt & water will get under it, and it could start to rust there if the paint isn't good. Silicone is a good choice for the sealer. A mastic should also work. | |
