I am installing a 440 in my 57 Belvedere and wonder if any of the hipo exhaust manifolds would work? If so which year and application. I would prefer manifolds over headers since I'm more interested in a quite cruiser than maximum performance. Thanks for any input.

When I did my 57 Dodge (installed a 440) I used a 69 C body drivers side HIPO manifold to clear the PS box if I remember correctly. The passenger side HIPO manifolds are all pretty much the same and clear well.

I fitted a 440 and B body HP manifolds in mine before taking it all apart (57 Coronet). It fit great, however I have a manual steering box and manual brakes so that affords a lot more room. The B/RB HP manifolds are all pretty much the same except for the angle and orientation of the dump. I think if you choose one that is straight down and you'll be in the best shape.

My headers were quiter than the OE cast iron manifolds and that w/o the crossover pipe that I had before.

If you use headers that are thicker gauge metal, like 16 gauge or better, and the flange is machined flat so that it seals well, then they will be quiet. The Chinese headers I used on my '56 Plymouth had terribly warped flanges on them but the metal they used was very thick, probably 14 gauge. I machined the flanges flat, and they were very quiet afterward.
