Location: Seville, OH | I could use two, but really need one of the subject wheels. I think they were used on wagons. I need the one pictured on the right. The left picture is a 56 Imperial wheel 6.0" wide. Need 6.5". |

Location: So. Cal | I've never heard of a wagon that used the imperial bolt pattern. What wagon are you referring to? |

Maybe I have that wrong. My 56 Imperial had 6.0" wide wheels, but my D-501 has 6.5" wide wheels and one is damaged. What application would have had the 6.5" wheels? Someone mentioned maybe a truck?

Location: Under the X in Texas | Chrysler and DeSoto "Estate Wagons" had Imperial hubs /drums /wheels. The hubs had larger bearings in them. |

Location: So. Cal | Would those be Imperial Hearses or other government issued cars like this one in Germany? Those have got to be pretty rare.

Location: DFW, TX | Just an idea, but it may be easier to send your wheels to a remanufacturer, have them remove your old centers, and put them inside a new rim with the width and backspacing that you need.
I have had this done before with steel wheels, and it was not terribly expensive. Obviously they won't be "date coded OEM correct" any longer, but if you're already considering truck wheels that's probably not a problem. Plus you get new round rims without any rust.
It may also be possible to have them add a half-inch of width to an existing wheel.
You might have a source closer to you, but I've used Stockton Wheel in the past and was happy with them. http://www.stocktonwheel.com/ |

I agree with Wayne. 1955-56 Chrysler and Desoto Estate wagons had the heavy duty (larger) hubs, wheels, etc. Not sure if they got the Imperial stuff or the Imperial got the Estate Wagon stuff. (chicken/egg)
I think the PN of the wheel that you seek is 1533 281 (not highlighted but it is in the last one in the wheel PN list):

Thanks! That does appear to be the P/N I need. That may be a little tough to find so for the meantime I am going to use my 6.0" Imperial wheels on the front and the 6.5" on the rear.

Location: So. Cal | Interesting that it states 1955 only, and that it lists all of the different models for '55 as well.
C67 '55 Windsor
C68 '55 New Yorker & 300
C69 '55 Imperial
C70 '55-'56 Crown Imperial
Certainly, not all of those cars used a 5.5" bolt pattern wheel. I wonder if it means only estate wagons from all of those models?
Edit: Now I understand. The '55 Windsor & New Yorker estate wagons used that wheel, as well as all the Imperials. So you just have to find a wheel for any '55 Imperial or '56 Crown Imperial. Pretty easy?

Location: Seville, OH | Yeah, I noticed that it was only 55. Interesting that they went to a narrower rim for 56 Imperial. Finding 55 Imperial rims shouldn't be too hard. |

Or 55 Estate wagons. |

Location: Texas | Do not confuse Imperial and Crown Imperial. Only the Crown will have a 6.5" wide wheel and they will not be easy to find. Might be easier to find a standard Imperial hub and machine the center off the rim. Many cars use a 6.5" rim. Have the center welded to the rim. |

I am trying to do, as much as possible, a correct restoration of my D-501 so I really want to find the correct wheels. I can use my two 6.0's on the front until I find them. There was a guy that sold a full set on eBay awhile ago and I snoozed. |
