| What are my options for a sending unit, this is for a '57 Dodge wagon but I know they are the same for 57-59 wagons. Are there places that rebuild them? |

PN for the 57-59 wagon fuel lever sender is 1842 756. Hiltop has a couple of NOS options (not cheap):

Did you take it apart to look at it?
Just last year I repaired a sending unit for a 1967 Chrysler Newport.
There was a tiny rivet , 1/16" i believe, that corroded off that was holding the part that determines the resistance.
I replaced it with a tiny nut and bolt and it worked just fine. I also lightly polished the resistance part to have good contact.
I know I was probably very lucky that it was a simple repair but I was ready to look for a place to repair it then thought I couldn't break it anymore than what it was so I decided to look into what was wrong. |

Location: NorCal | Have you determined that it's actually the fuel sender? My '57 gauge was inop but ohm meter readings at the sender are correct. (you can access the sender through a removable cover in the left rear wheel well)
Turned out to be the gauge, a light tap on the gauge brings it to life. I now carry a small jeweler's hammer under the seat.

| I did determine it was the sending unit a while back. I haven't taken it out yet, that's the next step. So I can pull it without pulling the tank, it just comes out that access hole? |

There is a removable panel in the rear tire wheel well but I don't know If you could remove the sending unit thru it.
The tank is not too hard to remove. |

| Just to confirm, for other people doing it, you can pull the sending unit without pulling the tank, there's a little round access hold (at least on 57-58 Dodges) in the wheel well |
