I bought a 1960 Dodge Dart Pioneer with a newer (62-64) 727 transmission. At first the parking gear cable was broken so I purchased a used older one that was frozen. I soaked that cable in kerosene for 2 months and it finally loosened up. When I replaced the broken cable with the reworked cable I got a gasket kit and replaced the parking gear pawl gasket as well as the O-ring for the cable itself. It is leaking from the cable retainer bolt-that bolt that has a groove in the middle and a tightening nut on the backside. I think the O-ring is supposed to seal that area. So I got another O-ring thinking that the first one may have been bad. I coated it with grease like the instructions said to. It still leaks. Is there something I forgot to do? My next step will be to dry everything off, clean with brake cleaner, and coat the cable retaining bolt with gray RTV and hope for the best. If there is something else I can do please et me know. All help appreciated. Thanks, Tracy.

Make sure the leak isn't originating at the cable housing ferrule. These leaks can be fixed with heat shrink tubing, the type with a adhesive inside.
Agree. Here is a thread that explains how to do that:
