| Does anyone out there have a current paint code for the gold on a 1957 Adventurer? I haven't had any luck locally
finding a cross for any of the older Ditzler or Dupont codes. I have the remnants of a quart of Centari single stage
that I had made around twenty years ago, but no one in this area now seems to be able to duplicate it.

| Thanks, I did check this site. The code is ( was ) correct, but no one seems to be able to convert it into a current formula. Going to have a
local paint shop try to scan it to see if they can figure it out. |

Location: New Castle PA | I can give you (after looking it up from my shelves) an accurate paint code, but it's for an International Harvester color. Spot on for the Adventurer according to the scan of my original paint under the moldings. It's what I used to paint my own car. |

Regarding the Adventurer gold color, I've seen DOZENS of Adventurers, and with many different shades of gold, so it's really hard to say what is correct. Tower Paint (www.towerpaint.com) custom mixes colors for every car imaginable. I bought a spray can of 1957 DeSoto Adventurer gold just to see what it looked like. Supposedly correct, it was obviously wrong. The underside of my trunk lid has never been painted except at the factory, so that is what I use to compare colors, and for comparison with other cars.
In my case, I had our local Dupont paint supplier custom-match the underside of the trunk. What he came up with, believe it or not, is International Harvester Gold. In Dupont Chromabase, the can is marked F2637K. I've given this same information out to several other '57 Adventurer restorers, and no one yet has argued with me that the color is wrong.

If you don't have any luck with the harvester gold try try this.

Paint suppliers over here are not much use when it comes to paint codes, even the other codes on the paint chips they could not cross reference.

| Both of these avenues seem promising, I'll check into both of them this week. I have a couple of spray cans left of the acrylic enamel I
had made from the quart of Centari that still worked. It was a very close match to the original color sample from my car. The code for it showed
up on the website that 57Chizler recommended, but no one locally can cross it over to anything. Thanks to all for the information.

Location: New Castle PA | If you're going with the Ditzler code, it's 21273, not the Dodge 21293 that 57Chizler noted. 21293 also matches a '56 DeSoto, but not '57. In addition, the '57 is different than the '58 Adventurer gold, so it's one-year only.

| Thanks Ed, that is what my sample was based on when it was made. Funny that this code doesn't seem to go anywhere now, but the
original white code still shows up and goes back to the original Dulux code in the 1957 Dupont catalog. Thanks for the help. |

Hi Lynn,
This is the problem I had, even contacted PPG to see if they had a newer formulation for the Ditzler code, but no luck with them. |
