I've got the slightly domed shaped freeze plugs and I understand that you mainly just whack em in the center to make them expand and seal. My question is this, I used to use a little sealer when using steel cup style core plugs.

Should I use some sealer on these too?
If so, I've got black silicone sealer or some of that brown sticky stuff.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

I always use the Permatex "brown death" on soft plugs.

Yes, almost everybody installs them by whacking the center to expand them but, technically, the proper installation tool leaves the center flat instead of dimpled.

Thanks, I'll use the "brown death" stuff on them. LOL "brown death"....I've heard it called a few things but that's a new one!

Also, I wasn't aware of there being an actual "core plug installation device", otherwise I probably would have bought it, or made one. HE HE

So what do you do, hold one ball peen hammer against the plug and whack the back of it what other hammer? Use a fat drift maybe?

Thanks again,

Wayne

Yup, fat drift or two hammers as you surmise. I usually try for a dimple about the size of a nickel.
