Thanks for your reply. I have not assessed the condition of this differential. I am really trying to determine which diff it is....so i can replace it later on. I have a fresh built 392 going on in a few months. Can I purchase a posi traction entire assembly to install in the present carrier? If so, who makes this assembly..? Thank you for your help! No one makes a limited slip or posi unit that will fit your diff. The newer 8 3/4 diff. that was used from 57 on had this option from 58 on but it won't fit in your housing. You will need to change the complete rear to get this and I am not sure what rear will be the easiest to fit.

Thanks. How about a non limited slip replacement? That will fit in my 56 new yorker housing. I`m not going to race this build, just a street rod.
