Assembly sounds like the whole thing.
Yes Marc. I was the one who alerted Vic to the fact that his new and lovely 57 D500 had the wrong air cleaner (assembly).
56D500boy - 2021-12-13 8:48 AM Vic: That is a beautiful car. I think we commented on it when Dan Schmitt had it for sale a while back. Almost perfect. BUT....
The air cleaner is wrong. The 1957 D500's had a higher flow oval element in an oval surround at the end of the side saddle air cleaner, not the round end one like you have. No biggy but it isn't correct for a real D500.
Searching for a proper D500 air cleaner will give you something to look for when you aren't polishing that beauty.
I was trying to give him some support in his search by pointing out that there are still oval air filter elements out there if all he can find is the oval shell, etc.

Hi Greg. I sent you an email. Thanks Vic
Vic: If you get an air cleaner from Greg (or someone else) and you are missing the bracket that supports the air cleaner at the valve cover, some 1957 Dodges used a one piece bracket (which could be easily made) that attached to the valve cover (or possibly the D500 325 wire cover)
Photos of the one piece bracket from a 57 Dodge 2 bbl poly Air Cleaner for sale post:
Alternatively, you could make two smaller brackets like these:
