Location: Finland | I buy this car from Sweden in November 2020.
There's a company called Mel's garage, they have some cars in showroom, but they also sell private seller's car's.
Car itself was quite ok condition, i fix little electric problems, windshield washer system but mostly it was cleaning interior (It was very dirty).
Little list what have done so far :
- Speedometer change miles to kilometers
- Some knobs and switches changed
- Radio rebuilt for european fm
- Backlight moldings re-chromed
- New set of backlight lenses (Not in pictures)
- Parking break fixing (Spring was broken, i made new one)
- Interior cleaning
- New wirings to back of car
- Windshield washer system fixing (New water bag is waiting to put on)
Here's couple pictures, if someone want's to see more. There's two links to Mel's garage youtube site and a link to my homepage.

Stations are located in different steps of frequences, i think.
So i can't get anything out of original radio without modifing.

Location: The Mile High City | The car is beautiful, Marko. You are doing top-quality work. It is difficult to find parts for these cars in the United States, it must be even more difficult in Finland. Good work and congratulations. |

Thanks for posting! It is a definitely Los Angeles-built car: your VIN should be started at LS1L-xxxx…
Some info for you, if you’re interesting:
SO 1004 = Scheduled on October 4, 1957 – early production car;
NO 4014 = 14th car built that day
MODEL LS1L = 1958 (L), DeSoto (S), Firesweep (1), Los Angeles Assembly Plant (L)
BT (Body Type) 412 = DeSoto (4), Firesweep (1), Sportsman 2-Door Hardtop (2)
PT (Paint) XMX = Pearl White Roof Color (X), Rose Beige Body Color (M), Pearl White Sweep Color (X)
TR (Trim) 623 = Gray Vinyl and Gray Modern Tweed Fabric – standard upholstery coded 62x (Custom upholstery would be coded 66x)
Of course you know WCD-LA is a West Coast Division – Los Angeles…
Now the most interesting things on your tag – so called M-codes:
M4 = 2 = order code 412 = Sweep Molding and Color Insert (single molding has order code 411 and would be coded as M4 = 1 on the tag; no molding – no code)
M5 = 1 = order code 501 = Undercoating and Underhood Pad
You can confirm that by build sheet of your car. Do you have it?

Thanks for interesting facts, i alredy knew some of it, but there was also new information. Unfortunately, I don't have the build sheet. Does anyone have a picture of that trim combination? |

“Custom” trim picture only (coded 66x). But black and white picture is useless, I think…

When posting links, you need to hit an "Enter" (carriage return) at the end of the link to make it live.
