Location: Suwanee, GA | Anyone have instructions for removing the clock on a 62 NYer? Does radio need to come out first? Any tricks to it?
Thanks,
Robert |

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | I was able to remove and replace my clock through the speaker opening without removing the radio. A little tight to get at the mounting screws but not that terrible. Make sure you disconnect the battery or you'll get zapped from the high voltage electroluminescent connection. |

Location: So. Cal | Never heard of unbrako. Looked it up and see that it's a brand more than a type. I suspect you mean socket head or Allen head screws like this.

Location: Suwanee, GA | Got it out. Not too difficult. Only had to remove the speaker/grill and ashtray. Bottom clock bracket is slotted, so only needed to loosen those screws. Hardest part was removing the speaker grill so as to not scratch paint. It's slightly bowed due to holding who knows what: coffee mugs, cigarettes, campaign speeches, etc. Took a while to orient it to that perfect position to slide it out. Will post pics later. Thanks everyone for the tips. Now the real fun begins! |

Location: Ramona, CA | I just stripped out a dash. It was a 1960 Windsor dash with no clock but the same screws hold in the block off. They are #8. Different from the ones that hold the rest of the trim piece. The lower screws also go through the dash sheetmetal when the trim is installed.

Location: Suwanee, GA | Got the clock removed, opened, cleaned, ticking, and back in. Cleaned the plastic lens while apart. Procedure was: disconnect battery, remove speaker grill, remove speaker, remove ash tray, disconnect power and lighting leads on back of clock, remove upper mounting screw, loosen lower two mounting screws, and pull out through speaker opening. Mine used hex head screws, and I was able to use a 1/4" drive ratchet and short extension to access the lower screws through the ash tray opening. I wrapped the knob and used a monkey wrench to carefully unscrew it. Then bent the four housing tabs to remove the lens, and removed the two nuts on the rear to remove the mechanism from the housing. Points looked fine, but I lightly sanded them anyway. I used rubbing alcohol to clean the gears. Fuse is 2A, and was good. Not sure how well I cleaned it, but clock is running at the moment.
Not too bad a job. Thanks for everyone's input.

Location: Ramona, CA | Thanks for the great documentation. Unfortunately my 300F does not have the ashtray so I'll just have to do everything from the top or pull the radio, which has been out before. |
