Location: Detroit | My '58 Belvedere wheels were sprayed red to match the body about 20 years ago. I don't believe that's factory correct, as I believe it was originally an argent color.
Can anyone confirm that and could you point me to a picture of the right color so I can have my paint person match it? I found the attached photo online, but it has the hubcap on it still. Looks to be the right silver, though (non-metallic)
Thanks!

Location: So. Cal | I have a March 1958 copy of "Car Life" magazine. In it is a short blurb about Plymouth wheel colors:
"PUZZLE SOLVED: You might have noticed that the color of the outside wheel surface of some '57 Plymouths was aluminum instead of black. Depends on which plant assembled the car as to color used."
So they were confused about it even in 1958. But it seems that silver or black were the two colors used - at least in 1957. And that likely carried over to '58 as well. |
