I recently had a problem where it would not shift out of first. Possible trans put a rebuilt trans is same thing. Thinking governor is hung up. Pulled the tail shaft checked the governor put it backed together and now when it’s running I push the R to go in reverse it will not push in. If I shut it off put it in reverse and jump it at the Solenoid it goes in reverse. Any suggestions would be great

this transmission has no solenoids or any electric devices inside, everything is hydraulic or mechanical. As Serge said check the transmission cable adjustment procedure, it is pretty easy to do.
Also check the hydraulic fluid level and type.. The wrong type of fluid made this transmission go loco.

If you need cable adjustment, there are some good pics from the Chrysler300club that shows which detents are which gear and how to perfectly adjust the cable by dropping the pan
