That's why I stayed away from it before, my state would make me put a state vin on it

Complaining at a high level, great looking car, although but it has a few shortcomings.
But the rivets on the VIN do look unserious. To look reputable the cowl tag is attached with special clockwise screws. Both were probably dismantled for restoration, or the car is...

I don't doubt that it's original to the car, I just hate fighting the DMV and having to get a state issued Vin

The car doesn't have FACTORY Power Seat;
The slot "PS" on the cowl tag is empty (it should have "4" below PS)

If I was really interested in the car, I would attempt to restore the VIN plate and spot weld it back onto the panel. Practice with other stainless sheet first! Of course that requires cutting, welding & a re-paint of the door jamb - not something you would want to have to do to a fully restored car.

I would say the probability that the floor was changed to accommodate that is pretty high, given that most convertible floors are shot, and need replaced anyways.

That car is much nicer than any of mine, so I'm not trying to be critical. I'd think, though, that for a high-end restoration, the valve covers would have been put on properly. The one with the built-in coil bracket goes on the passenger side, not the driver's side.
