I don't normally get political but the Canadian Federal government quietly mandated that all octanes of gasoline at the pumps must have an ethanol blend by the end of 2023. I found this out near the end of September and by mid October there was NO pure ethanol-free gas left in the province of BC where I live, and now I am assuming there is none left anywhere in Canada since we're a week away from the end of 2023.
If you are a Canadian member of this forum please consider singing this authorized Federal Petition I built over the last 10 days or so regarding bringing back Ethanol-Free Gasoline to the pumps in Canada. It is only open to Canadians or residents of Canada. This petition is backed by the NAACC in Canada

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | SO I found out in November 2025 that ESSO Stations in BC sell Ethanol-Free 91 Octane. The pumps are generally not marked. I live in Victoria, and have tested the fuel for ethanol from several stations in town. One of our local WPC Members was told by a tanker driver that Esso Stations at least, in BC are Ethanol Free. Since I was skeptical I decided to do a test, brought some home in a jerry-can and tested it. I also spoke with the owner of the local ESSO Car Clinic and he stated that at least all of BC Esso 91 is ethanol free, and possibly across Canada. This is how you can do a simple test for Ethanol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLToBqG_F6M
