Thanks, Clive; he says that he was away from here on a 7-day vacation.

Anyone miss him?

BTW, this car was a Polara 4-dr sedan D500. Long-ago parted out.

1960 was the first year that B. sheets were found inserted underneath a back seat, in Dodges.

Neil, which factory is that Broadcast from? To me it seems that the Dodges used a completely different broadcast than Chrysler / DeSoto 1960. I have confirmed that the broadcast 83-330-0362 from Jefferson was used for both the Chrysler and DeSoto. What number has the '60 Dodge broadcast? I would wish that you could upload some better photos of it - I'm mostly interested by the codes with 2 prestamped numbers followed by a typwritten number. The 3 prestamped codes + the following typewritten number is obvious a Dodge only code - but the 2 prestamped numbers is most likely common for the different marks.

If I assume correctly, the code 521 for axle ratio should be 2,93:1 - can you confirm this Neil?

This sheet is from Detroit; note its "Dodge Assembly plant" ?

The two pre-stamped numbers indicate an option with at least two options available; like :"28_', for transmission.

281 is manual; 282 is Powerflite, and 283 is T/Flite.

In 1960, the standard axle was the 3.31:1 for the automatic-D500's , with the 2.93:1 optional, according to the A.M.A. Specifications that I've got.

It also shows the 3.54:1 ratio standard, with the 3.31 optional, on all manual shift cars, including D500.

For the 'regular' engines, 2.93:1 WAS standard for the Matadors & Polaras with T/Flite; the Matadors could have a P/Flite trannie, in which case they got the 3.31 as standard equipment.

Since this car IS a D500, it got a "1" coded for the axle, which in THIS case is the 3.31:1 open rear axle.

The A.M.A. specs say that the limited slip SureGrip rear end was available in ALL of the rear ends, so it is kinda disappointing that this car only has that "1", because if it had the SureGrip, it would have had some other coding, to identify it, altho that 'other' number would be confusing if we didn't know what that other-number actually confirmed.

A "1" always confirms the first, or lowest-rated, option, so this D500 had a 3.31:1 standard-D500 rear end in it.

I don't have the A.M.A. specs on the standard Darts, but the D500 Darts got the same rear end ratios as the big "Dodge"
D500's.
