I have found some good, restorable vehicles in wrecking yards that have their data tags, however, most of them have lost their VIN tag from rusting off at the 2 tack welds that hold the VIN tag on in the door jam. The data tag provides the body type production sequence number for the year vehicle; is there any way to use that number from the data tag to look up what the VIN number should be? It would be a shame to see good restorable cars get crushed over a small thing such as missing a VIN tag when the rest of the car is restorable.

I surely don't know what info is included on ALL of the Forwardlook data plates but very few of them have the VIN on them because it didn't need to be there and much other info did.  The '59 Dodges are an exception to this because the data plate was the only place that had the VIN - those cars are an oddity having no VIN plate on the left door pillar.

If you can post pics of the cars you consider most desirable and restorable, Team Forwardlook will tell you everything about them down to whether the rear axle is full or only 3/4 full of grease - just from a picture - these guys are amazing!

Yeah, W. refers to option group 69, which is the high performance rear end grease seals (so, that only 3/4 of
the axle's grease needed to be installed; hey, it worked, on the 1956 D500's !
