Hi all,
Today i was searching on Internet about a problem on a 727 Torqueflite (don't know exactly year, maybe 1969) and i find this very interesting article http://www.allpar.com/mopar/transmissions/torqueflite-tom-hand.html

But ther's a paragraph which amazes me : (...) The rear clutch is on in all forward gears. It uses a Bellevifle spring washer to multiply the piston apply force the necessary amount to transmit engine torque through the rear clutch pack. (...). The different drawings confirm that.

If i look at the cast iron Torqueflite manual i can see that it's the forward clutch which is applied in forward gears !! Does these 2 transmissions work differently ?

The clutches are backwards but everything else works basically the same. The bands, overrunning clutch and planetaries function the same in both units.
