Hello all, and greetings from Santa Barbara!

I have a 59 Canadian Chrysler Windsor, and am searching for CA plates to go on the car. Question is... what plate should I be looking for to be true to issue in 1959 in CA?

Would anyone have pics of what I should be looking for? Are the ones stamped in the upper corner with the "63" correct? Or is there an earlier plate that I should be looking for?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance!

At a long shot... anyone have a pair they're wanting to part with? I've heard that they can be re-registered if "DMV clear"... but what does that mean?

Bryan, the correct plates are yellow with black numerals. These can be expensive to buy as a pair in good condition, as most of these plates were turned in to the DMV when the black/yellow numerals were issued in 1963. There are plate dealers that sell cleared plates at the swap meets, it's a good idea to be sure that the plates were cleared, if not, you could get stuck with an expensive set of wallhangings.

Many old plate number combinations have been re-issued to motorcycles in the last several years, and those plates cannot be registered. ---John
