Elite Veteran Posts: 907 Location: Magra, Sweden | I've met the owner of this 57 CRL 'vert and we spoke alot, this was the first time he drove the car since restoration (almost completed). It's a lovely car looking great in this color combo and I understand a tremendours work have been put into the car by himself and the previous owner. This was a bottomless wreck brought to new life (WnW10 104.jpg) (WnW10 095.jpg) (WnW10 096.jpg) (WnW10 097.jpg) (WnW10 098.jpg) (WnW10 099.jpg) (WnW10 100.jpg) (WnW10 101.jpg) (WnW10 102.jpg) (WnW10 103.jpg) (WnW10 105.jpg) Attachments ---------------- WnW10 104.jpg (83KB - 156 downloads) WnW10 095.jpg (99KB - 160 downloads) WnW10 096.jpg (99KB - 154 downloads) WnW10 097.jpg (97KB - 155 downloads) WnW10 098.jpg (96KB - 155 downloads) WnW10 099.jpg (82KB - 159 downloads) WnW10 100.jpg (80KB - 155 downloads) WnW10 101.jpg (97KB - 161 downloads) WnW10 102.jpg (85KB - 157 downloads) WnW10 103.jpg (65KB - 150 downloads) WnW10 105.jpg (97KB - 156 downloads)

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Wow; that "red/white" convertible was originally all-BLACK, but with the gold/black interior. As far as I know, SMS is able to make/sell correct 1957 Custom Royal/Custom Sierra upholstery cloth, but virtually all the verts I've seen (including the CRL vert at 57 Heaven) have had the 'hardtop' cloth be installed in them. The correct vert/wagon cloth is a lot tougher than the hardtop material, as this car's owner may (soon) find out, unless he installs clear plastic over the upholstery--I know; not-fun, on a vert, especially, but at least he'll be protecting his sizable investment. The car was built with a white top, and with the Solex glass in it. The owner retrofittted a power seat into the car (as I did, on mine), and he's got/using a potmetal 1958 power seat housing (as I also used, on mine, until I scored a NORS 1957 plastic power seat housing, which was made in Finland, IIRC). [I happen to have, since-then, acquired a perfect condition, with vinyl skirt attached, 1957 driver's side plastic power switch housing....but that guy well be X-pensive...for some lucky buyer of it]. Anyway, back to this car:

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | OOPS; hit 'send' by mistake! ...this car was either built without the (optional) radio, or, it was built with a signal seeking radio in it....the Broadcast Sheets and IBM card will confirm if it had a sig-seeker in it, but, probably, it was built without a radio, in which case the dual antennae were also owner add-ons (since there would be no antennae on a non-radio car), and the dual antennae option is only listed on the B.-Sheets & IBM cards. The car DOES have a lot of accessory-options (which makes me wonder about the sig-seeking radio status), and, it has a very rare/unusual delivery Route to its selling dealership; apparently it was delivered by Truck, to some location, and it was, then, driven away to the dealership, which implies that the dealer was located in a very rural area--so, maybe THAT is why the car may have been built w/o a radio---it may have been delivered to an area where AM stations were scarce--like, the Uppa-Yu-Ess. OOPS--just noticed that this car is NOT coded as having the rear antennae on it, so, this car almost certainly was not built with the optional radio in it. Nice car, though.
