Veteran Posts: 119 | Don't know how many caught this flic on TCM last week, but it made me drool for the complete '61 FL line driven by the movie's stars. Lana's '61 Fury 'vert; Bob's '61 Polara 'vert (in silver, just like the brochure); the Chrysler 300 ragtop and '61 Imperial sedan. They tear around SoCal's San Fernando Valley in idyllic bliss, and Hope's scene at the grocery store is all Polara, all over the place! I'm sure it's been discussed before, but I can't wait to screen it again to get better pics of the cars. Always for the cars! Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | I saw the movie as well last week, first saw it back in the 80s. Bob Hope always had Chrysler Corp. as a sponsor when he had his specials on TV - did anyone notice if Chrysler Corp was in the movie credits for this? Typically it would read "Automobiles Furnished by Chrysler Corporation" or something to that effect. Edited by imopar380 2010-09-17 2:27 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 496 | Bob Hope was given a new Chrysler to drive every year -- he must have made a promotional agreement in the 50's. In the early 1990's, I saw Bob and his wife, Dolores, at a local record store. I even held the door open for them , to which Bob responded in his unique voice, "Thank you, young man." We left about the same time. Dolores was helping Bob into a new, white Chrysler New Yorker.

Cool story, Aaron. - Bob would have been around 90 then - did he have a driver or was he or Dolores driving?

Elite Veteran Posts: 1107 Location: Arvada, Colorado (NW Denver Metro Area) | Didn't Bob Hope host the "bob Hope presents the Chrysler Theatre " on TV? He was a great guy and did a lot for the troops in war zones for Morale in many military confilicts. Great American and long time Mopar guy!

Extreme Veteran Posts: 496 | Dolores was driving. She was taking care of him...he was frail. You could tell how much she loved him.
