| Why did Chrysler use left hand thread lug nuts? Do you guys usually replace them with right hand thread? |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | The reason was that if a nut wasn't tighten down correctly, the rotationg force tended to at least keep the nut in place, hence left hand on the left side and right hand on the right side.
This was very common on heavy trucks as well.
I wounld'nt change them, it's a MoPar thing
(That said, Oldsmobile had the same, but also righ/left hand threads on the wheel bearing spindles) |

Cost me 2 busted lugs on my 66 Imperial once.
and the guy was a mopar nut to boot and then lied right to my face saying they were badly rusted!!! NOT!!!!

And when mounting wheels, many will run the nuts down full speed till they bottom out! This stretches the threads causing weakening of the studs.
You can see evidence of this scattered up and down most highways, mostly at stop signs and tool booths.

| My dad always used to say, RIGHTY TIGHTY ,LEFTY LOOSEY except Chrysler.
