Expert Posts: 1737     Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | I have had some requests for scans of the fabric selector book I picked up a while back...but the book is too big to fit on any of my scanners...so I will have to take it into town, and have the copy center do it on their large machine. Location: Parts Unknown | I have used some of the more "atomic" auto fabrics to recover MCM furniture. The offerings through typical upholstery sources is nowhere near as cool as what auto fabrics are out there. | ||

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | That is really neat to see! My Chrysler is coded 26 (Black Mosaic Jacquard & Lt. Gray Metallic Vinyl). The mosaic fabric in reality is much more interesting than that shown - there is quite a bit of Gold interlaced with the Silver. I didn't realize the vinyl was metallic until recently, and even then only in the parts where the sun did not shine into the car. It has the most weatherbeaten interior I have ever seen in an otherwise nice car. Unfortunately the seat inserts were replaced at some point and the only place the original fabric lives is on the backside of the front seat. I'll try to get a picture. Location: Parts Unknown | I agree, the 57 NY'er mosaic jacquard is quite "Googie", with random shapes in a silver against a charcoal base (on my old NY'er coupe too). I am eyeballing that mauve as a potential for use on a chair I need to recover. The turquoise would be good too.  As I recall, 59 NY'er also had a wing-ding cool fabric. | ||

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Here is a ~3x2" piece I trimmed off. Don't worry, the fabric is so dry rotted that it is no longer usable. But as you can see the book sample and my sample match up fairly well... (I did have to rotate my photo 180* to orient it with the fabric sample)  Edited by 57burb 2013-11-19 10:28 AM | ||
