I have a 61 Plymouth coupe that has the common rust out at rocker right at the door line. I also have a solid 63 300 coupe that I'm going to use for parts. (Not the one in the pic) I was eyeing the rocker on the 300 and it looks pretty similar. I took a rocker clip from the 300 and it lines up with the Plymouth rocker well. I think that it work as a patch panel for the ply. What do you think or what have you guys used for this replacement section before

That is such a small piece it could be very easily fabricated from a piece of sheet metal.

Yes, except you will need to attack it with an aggressive wire wheel first to see how extensive the damage is, because there could be more issues hiding close by. But if it isn't much worse than what it shows, just bend a new piece of steel over the appropriate size large socket or can to make a replacement for it.

Here is a pic of the bad side of the other side of the Plymouth. The area I'm asking about is to the right of the door jam. Or after the main rocker ends. I know a 63 300 is different at wheel opening or dog leg,but the shape up to that point looks the same as the ply? . The shape of the door looks the same up to the top.

Also another question If a 63 300 is listed as a 122 in wheelbase. The extra 3 inches compared to a 118 in wheelbase car. Where does the extra length appear ? Are the floor and trunk pans usable off a 63 300 2dr usable on a 61 2dr Plymouth?

You are likely the only person here that has both a '61 Plymouth and a '63 Chrysler, so you are the best person to answer the question. Go out and measure & inspect the floors to compare them. Then tell us what you find out.

I have used those patch panels above on both my dodge and the plymouth and they still require a lot of work.

Firsly, they are meant as slip overs, not actual replacements, they dont fit right up to the seam under the sill

They are not made with steel thats as thick as the orriginal sill material

The curves are not quite right to slip over or replace, its kind of in between

And for a 4 door, just behind the "B" pillar, there is a low spot on the sill thats not in the replacement, this
is important because the front lower edge of the door uses this depression when it opens. Ask me how I learnt that one

That said, as I said above, I have used them on both cars and for a sill thats rusted a lot, it save a lot more work than they create

I still have pieces left (I cut them into smaller sections and replace only whats needed)

If I was going to be fussy, I would cut a good section out and find a fabrication shop to make me new ones

It would be cool if you could make rollers and just roll out leanths as required
