Just took ownership of the car from my dad. He used lead additive in it since he's owned it. From what I'm reading here and there, there may be no need for the additives on this motor? Can someone set me straight? The motor is original and has about 78k miles on it. Doesn't smoke or used any oil that he's noticed in the time he's owned it.

I did use the search function, seems the only motors discussed were older polys and hemis.

Thanks for your help.

My experience with our project cars is to ignore the lead issue. Although the old leaded fuel is/was a good octane booster the lead
also acted as a lubricant of sorts. Now, since 'we' don't usually accumulate a lot of miles, just plan on a valve job every 50K or so.

Flatties come with hard seats stock. No additive is needed.
