My kids road with me on a 12 hour round trip road trip. We brought home this older restoration 1957 Custom Royal Lancer. So excited to go for a ride! Kids were amazed by it in many ways, lol. 325 Poly. New interior and rubber and lots of work done on it mechanically. It doesn't have the Torqflite, but has the Powerflite... I see it was an option.... Oh well. Glad to be a part of this forum!

Very nice. Beautiful in fact.

Dodge chose that colour combo for several of their 1957 adverts:

I was just about to type the exact words of mikes2nd! It is a gorgeous car and I am glad it is in the hands of someone who appreciates it. I considered it myself.

The guy I bought it from loved the car. He took it to shows often and did well. He was just needing to upgrade his camper to spend more quality time with his family. hard working guy with some good priorities in my opinion. He spent a lot of time working on this car and was very proud of it as he shouldve been.

echodish, I'm not really trying to be harsh on the prior owner, but all of his recent Facebook posts seemed like he was really bummed or disappointed with the car. Maybe his public posts just were not fully representative of his true feelings. Nonetheless, it looks like the car will be in great hands.

Hate to say this and maybe disappoint you...i did some decoding on that 57....its not a Custom Royal...it came back as a Coronet...someone in the past added a few CRL bits to it....and Bob "was" sick to death of owning this nice 57...he loathed the sight of it....some of us on the page kinda talked him around to keeping it but i guess it didnt work after all.

Oh well, what's in a number anyway? If you would like to have a CRL, now you essentially do, even if the number doesn't say so. When I was younger, I never understood why people cared so much about that number. If you want a hemi Cuda, just get a Cuda and put a hemi into it - was always my attitude. But it does affect resale - a little bit in this case, but not by much.

Looks like an awesome car. You should have a load of fun in that car with the family. I'm sure you'll love it. Welcome!

I don't have a horse in this race so-to-speak but the CRL isn't THAT different from a Coronet. A nameplate, gold letters, some bumper teeth, and an interior, big deal.. I don't see the problem with this car. It's not as though it's representing a correctly restored version, the color isn't original, the interior is very nice and well done but not original. Maybe the fenders and bumper was replaced with parts from a CRL? I would sooner take issue on a fake 57 d500 car being passed off as original WAAAAAAY before ever taking issue with this car (not so much 58-59 as they aren't as special in my opinion as the 57's that actually got an entirely exclusive engine). Nice car, drive it, enjoy it!

Im not saying it isn't a nice car, because it is...but i hope he didn't pay a premium for a Custom Royal, and the seller knew very well what he had...so if he sold it knowing it wasn't a CRL...he conned the new buyer/owner, and that isn't a fair deal.

Awesome car, love 4 door hard tops. Love the looks on kids' faces, hope you enjoy the car with them. That's how it all started for me, when my dad brought home his 1974 Dodge Charger.

I agree with this. The seller misrepresented the car. If the buyer is happy with what he got, then there's no problem. But if the buyer was thinking he got a CRL and then found out it was a Coronet, he could go after the seller for fraud. Also, there could be potential problems registering the car if DMV runs the VIN number and it comes back as a Coronet.
