Just wondering if anyone can recommend a modern radial equivalent to a 9.00 X 14.00 for my 59 New Yorker, just looking for a basic radial black wall, going to the US in early May, looking to buy a set and take them home.

No longer made except by Coker and the other vintage tire dealers, at well over $200 EACH. Unfortunately the days of going to Canadian Tire or Pep Boys and getting a big 14" radial tire at driver car prices is long gone, the biggest radial 14" generally for sale nowadays is P205-75R14. 215's were around until a few years ago but gone now. I have a new never used set, 1" ww (you can turn them around) that I bought for my '58 Chrysler (<---- see pic) that I sold 2 yrs ago, they are available for sale here in Central NY, they cost me $400+ in 2013, will sell all 4 for $250.

Troy, if you like Active driving, buy a tire with the right weight and speed classification.

I run on Nokia Hakka Sport utility 235/75/15 and the height tangents the bias ply tires. The ride is FANTASTIC, great road grip, cornering, sound level and good rain tires.

If you cannot get Nokians, a good tire brand will do just fine - the Nokians are "semi" C class tires - full C might be a Little harder, but Neil (RIP) was Always totally happy with his C tires.

Billy, the 14" tires is almost obsolete in the correct height, so I did'nt chose - more like forced to go to 15".

The bias ply tires was approximately 29" (736,6mm), the 235/75/15 tires are approximately 28,88" (733,5mm).

I chosed the Nokian Hakka Sport utility 235/75/15 and I'm very pleased with the ride - they are ugly though

Forward Lookers,
If I was to go to the 15" tire and rim on my New Yorker (instead of the stock 14") what do I do about the the stock 14" hubcaps? Is there a adapter out there so I can use my OEM hubcaps? Are there 15" hubcaps the same as the 14" OEM's?
Thanks,
billy

There are no stock 15" wheel covers for the 1959 Chrysler. You could use 15" 1959 Imperial wheel covers as a substitute. These style covers were used on various models, including 300s, up until around 1966 with different center hubs. http://www.auctionsamerica.com/images/lots/BB13/BB13_r426_01.jpg
