From Don Verity who visited the car (or from pictures). Of course it needs some work, but ways less than a full restoration...

<<<

The glowing description doesn’t match the pictures of the car! Here is what a found with a quick look.

62 headlight bezels

Wipers don’t park

62 grille medallion

Front bumper alignment sucks

Body plugs under trunk lid painted, and is that mouse nest hanging out of one of the holes?

Wrong trunk carpet and boards

Chrysler letters on trunk not painted

Wrong fan belts

A/C tag missing, and converted to 134

Wrong jiffy jet bag, and bracket painted

Data tag suspicions, and vin tag riveted on

Electric chokes

Rams painted with carbs on- overspray

Wrong coil

Routing of heater hoses- no bracket at coil

Plug wires wrong

Battery hold down wrong

Wrong hose clamps

Dirty carpet

Worn pedal pads and wrong emergency brake pad

Console trim scratched, and screw through center of ribbed portion

No gap fillers on doors or quarters

No light shields for buttons

No bottom of car pictures, who knows what else is hidden

It took longer to write this out than to look at it. Buyer beware. But whoever buys it, I’ll bet all his friends will OOH and AAH over his pretty red car.

Don

>>>>

Some issues are solvable with ease (belts, clamps, hose routing, light shields, no lighting needle at the amp meter)

Good luck,

Dieter

At first I thought that this car was the same one that was on BAT and ended today without meeting the reserve. I think the high bid was about $30K. After comparing pictures of the two, I've come to the conclusion they are two different cars. The one on BAT has the correct '61 seats, or at least the leather covers, no outside mirrors, different trunk liner that appears to be correct, as well as a few other things. The overall condition also appears to be comparable but probably a little more factory original. Some of the things were listed as not working though like the A/C, some of the gages, etc. Still a pretty nice looking car but no indication as to what it takes to buy it

It's appraised as a National Award Winner/Spectucular. But in my opinion Don is right. I discoverered the same discrepancy. Some interesting parties might not be aware or do not care, but the pendency list for a Chrysler 300 Club meeting judgement is too long to become a winner. What kept my eye as well were some corroded screw heads (the old ones, not polished or replaced by new screws). I think that's a pitty (or no go) for a professional restored car.

Personally I wouldn't bet at this car exept I would visit it first. The description in my opinion is full with blah blah text... Then the color. For sure it's a nice color, but it couldn't compete with Torreador Red of the 1960 Chrysler 300F, my personal taste.

Happy Restoring!

Dieter

I'm confused about which is the correct seat pattern for the 300G. The squares or the stripes? I've seen both.

The squares are correct for a G*. The 300F (and 300H) has covers sewn similarly to the stripes, but the inserts are embossed with a basket weave pattern.

* Special color interiors were sewn the same way, but had no "squares."
