Elite Veteran Posts: 1102 Location: Hayward, Calif | Hey Guys, Got the tru-spoke wire wheels Wed & ordered the tires from a local tire shop. Had them mounted this AM and put them on the car. I got BF Goodrich P215/75R15 radials with a 2 1/2" whitewall. the 2 1/2" whitewall was the only size they offered. Found out that wire wheels have a special way to be balanced, can't be done same as a normal steel wheel. That wide whitewall makes the tire look bigger than it is. The wife is smiling and happy !! Getting ready for the upholstery shop on April 4th. Location: Under the X in Texas | Wire wheels are "trued" by adjusting the spokes: a HIGHLY technical job because so very few companies still do this. They SHOULD have been true when you got them. Other than shipping them to someone that can correct them, just have them balanced at the next shop down the road. Not every balance machine has proper mounting hardware or cones to put those wires onto their machine today. Ask around. Point here is if any are WAY out of balance, not true from Tru-Spoke, you may want to send them back!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 6487 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | "We employ strict tolerances in the assembly of the wheel to improve ride quality and ease in balancing." With restoration costs approaching or exceeding the cost of modern Truespoke wire wheels, it is hard to make a case for not purchasing brand new Truespokes. The upgrades and changes shown on this page provide compelling proof that the new Truespoke wheel is highly improved. The proof-of-the-pudding will be in the performance and beauty that your new Truespokes will provide. Our chrome-plating is performed here in Southern California by one of America's top chrome platers. Show-quality is a term we don't use lightly. You will be proud of the concours quality appearance and quality of these wheels. Our outer-rims are made by the same good folks who bring you Cragar wheels. Our assembly methods are as precision as possible for a wire wheel that is built entirely by hand in Southern California. We employ strict tolerances in the assembly of the wheel to improve ride quality and ease in balancing. No longer a mass-produced wheel as in the past, today's Truespoke is a quality wire wheel that thousands of owners are passionate about. Please email or call us with any questions or comments. http://www.truespoke.net/Comparison.html Finally, a few words on wheel balancing. It has been my experience that wire wheels are much more sensitive to wheel balance that a disk wheel. It is normal for a balance job on front wheels to last only three or four thousand miles. At that point the steering wheel may shimmy (usually at some particular speed) indicating a balance job is needed. I always had good luck with a dynamic (spin) balance. Any good tire shop can do it. I hope this article helps you with your wire wheels. Special thanks to Bill Traill for sharing with me his insights into this subject. http://www.team.net/sol/tech/truwire.html Just a funny: Yeah Boy.... http://www.texanwirewheels.com/ Edited by mstrug 2017-03-05 9:37 AM

Elite Veteran Posts: 1102 Location: Hayward, Calif | Hey Guys, THANKS for all the compliments !! They are Tru-spoke wheels. I got them from Hobbycar in Fallbrook, Cal. 760-731-8301. Or google Chrysler Wire Wheels. All the info will come up with various options. They are a bit pricey but there shipping time was quick. The wife has been spending a lot more time out in the shop lately. Also like to go thru my roll away tool box and pick out a specialty type tool, 'what's this for and can I have it ?' , Nooooo, You are a guest in my Man-cave ! Jerry

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7205 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | I have a set of Truespoke repops on my Saratoga. When I had them installed, the shop put balance weights on the inner side of the rim. I got home and a day later I found one of the balance weights fell off, onto the driveway. After taking the car out on the highway to see if it made a difference, there was absolutely no difference, no shimmy/vibration at all on the front end at any speed. Those wheels were well balanced from factory. I also bought mine from hobbycar.com but I didn't buy their tires. I bought Diamondbacks in P235-75R15

Expert Posts: 1730 Location: Michigan | I got the entire package from them. Came wrapped and balanced ready to install. Really make the difference on the car. However, if you put the vehicle in any kind of storage where it will get cold, make sure you spray down the rims with gun oil, or something that will cling well to the wires. otherwise you will get rusty rims!

Elite Veteran Posts: 1102 Location: Hayward, Calif | Thanks !! It's at the upholstery shop now. probably be 1 1/2 weeks til it's done. Check it out on the 'member rides' section. The color comes out much better in the bright sunlite. Jerry PS, If you live in Vacaville we should get together. There is a show up around Williams later this yr. John Fowlie usually lets me know when it is. Sounds like it is a pretty good show, and a lot of Chry Corp cars.
