Fall Fling in LA (Van Nuys), CA is coming up in 2 weeks on Saturday the 28th. On Friday, there is a Malibu cruise that takes place at 9AM too. Sunday is judgement day, so of course I avoid it. Great Mopar swap meet and show cars. Anyone too cheap (like me) to spend money on a hotel is welcome to camp out at my place the night before the show. I am about 40min North of the show along the 5 freeway. Just give me advanced notice so my wife doesn't freak out. Should be fun like usual! I'm planning to take the Lancer wagon this year and my friend's copper & black '58 Coronet should be ready to show up too.

Nathan,

The wife and I will be out there an we may drag the Dodge with us. I think Brian Cotton will have his La Femme out to. One note, no Sunday for Fall Fling, its a Saturday only show. And I don't think they do any judging at this one, just the Spring Fling. I believe that they just put a few ribbons on cars for the Fall Fling. Looking forward to seeing you.

Dave

Yes, that's right. I apparently wasn't thinking very hard when I wrote that. See you there!

Fall fling was great as usual, a little light on participation, but not bad. I picked up a couple of unexpected goodies for my forwardlook cars and a short/long ram setup too. Here are some highlights:

Awesome! Thanks for sharing those images.

Your shot of the Bluesmobile is fantastic. It looks like Jake is about to perform a "farmer's blow" - perfect! Right in character.

I don't think that's what he's doing, but it probably should be. I purchased a bunch of parts from a guy in your neck of the woods. Apparently a big DeSoto guy with a lot of '57-'58 cars. He even has a '57 Fireflite convertible that he's working on.

The rust on the lower portion of the Plymouth wagon is exactly, and I mean identical to the rust that was on my 57 Plymouth wagon when I bought it. I thought it was strange that the very bottom of the tailgate was as solid as could be but a few inches up there were rust holes just like above.

Consistent failure between cars = obviously a design flaw. All the water, snowmelt and salt that ran down off the glass went into the tailgate cavity and they forgot to design-in drainage passages and/or drain holes. Oops.

Why did they rush the 57's into production a year earlier than planned again??
